In-club work:
● Live entertainment
● Gaming
● Community events
● Food outlets
Subsidiaries:
● Waterside Events ● La Bocca Pizza
● Alley’s Restaurant ● La Vista Cafe
● Dune Cafe ● The Deck Creekside
● SoundLounge ● gnite Education
● The Veteran Support Centre
All of these subsidiaries had their own brand and style guides, while also following RSL’s own style guide. Talk about a challenge. I was the designer for 10 different businesses at the same time. With a heap of events and promotions going on year-round, how did I get my designs to stand out?
BIG. BOLD. BRIGHT.
It’s easy for designs to fade away amongst the busy world of an RSL. My designs didn’t.
CULTURE
Currumbin RSL is a place that inspires community engagement and helps our veterans. It promotes sustainable living and left a giant imprint on any staff that became involved through volunteering. Outside of my role as a designer, I made many contributions to club culture.
These included:
● Volunteering time for many charity events sponsored by the club
● Participated in the “Soldier On’ fun run that raised money for young veterans
● Volunteered design time for ‘War Widows’ events
● Adopted a green lifestyle at work and home thanks to the positive influence of the RSL
(Currumbin is considered the most environmentally sustainable club on the Gold Coast)
